Vacation Weekend in Utah - Day 1      Friday, July 13, 2007 - 8:59 PM

Ash & I headed off to Deer Springs Ranch in Utah today.  Mom and Dad had a cabin reserved on the ranch where their property is located until next Tuesday.  They should be arriving Sat. night but Ash and I are heading up early.  Upon arriving a cow was in the road and for a while it looked like he was going to charge head on into our car!  He was too big and the road was too small to go around him.  We soon realized he had a Momma cow and 2 calves beside him along the road.  He was probably just protecting them.  He moved and we continued along our way.

We arrived and the Ranch Manager told us the cabin we had reserved (#3) was unavailable because of a problem with mice so he gave us the keys to cabin #1 and #2.  We went to take a look at both.  #1 (pictured below) was very large and even had an apartment like extra floor under ground.  It had a nice view of the pink cliffs at Bryce Canyon National Park.  Not sure how many people Mom and Dad had invited up we decided to set up in the larger cabin (#1).  After relaxing and unpacking I made dinner and we ate and hung out and played a couple games of Yahtzee.  Around Midnight 2 other couples showed up and said that they had reserved cabin #1.  They were stuck in traffic on the way up and had called the Manager who said he would leave the cabin open for them.  We told them that he gave us the keys and he said nothing about them coming.  They decided to use cabin #2 since we were already set up in #1 even though they reserved it because it was the nicer one and had such a great view.  After they went to #2 Ash & I discussed it and decided it was the right thing to do to let they have cabin #1.  They had said they were leaving Sunday Morning so worse case scenario is we move back over to #1 Sunday after they leave if Mom and Dad need more room.  So we packed up and switched in the middle of the night.  They were really grateful and as always it felt great to do what is right!
